The Holiday Season can be an emotional and busy time. If you are trying to sell your home during the holidays, it can be stressful and you may even be tempted to slash the price right along with those Black Friday Sales. But there are a few things you can do to keep your home appealing and current to those serious buyers who are in the market for a house at this time of year.
Staging: Staging a Home during the holiday season is not so different than other times of the year. You should declutter and deep clean your home. Your goal is for Buyers to picture themselves in the space, not raise questions about quirky art or counting the projects it will take for the home to be “move-in ready” by their standards. However, staging your home with a few seasonal touches can add to the magic of the season and entice potential buyers. Here are few additions sure to attract interest:
- Welcoming wreath on the front door
- Cozy hearth and fireplace
- Warm lights, especially for showings later in the day
Exterior: The exterior is very important in the winter. Potential buyers do not want to do any exterior maintenance in the cold winter months, so take care of any issues that would keep a buyer from moving right in. Landscaping is essential to consider because curb appeal is less strong without those flourishing summer foliage. Keeping flower beds tidy will allow buyers to easily envision adding their own vibrant touches to the home when Spring rolls around.
Pictures: Your real estate professional may want to come take a few fresh pictures if your home has been on the market during a season change. A photo of the warm fireplace, or changing leaves in an established neighborhood will help your listing stay current and appealing to buyers.
While your seasonal décor should entice buyers, be sure to not overdo it. You are showing off the great features of your house and aiding them to envision their own holiday in the home. Above all, be sure the home is warm, welcoming, and tidy!
